Training to be a Coach

Coaching is the 21st century management technology and is an essential skill for Managers, Human Resource and Organisational Development professionals.

In the past, coaching was used to address toxic behaviours, some of which clearly needed therapy such as narcissism but most of which fall in the category of poor people management. What is essential for coaching to be effective is that the coach is trained with a comprehensive methodology and adhears to strict ethical standards.

At Self Leadership International we train coaches to meet the standards of the International Coach Federation and in the methodologies of NLP, Neuro-Semantics and Meta-Coaching. Our coaching programmes combine theory with practical experience that is relevant to professional coaching in today's environment. Our coach trainers are coaches themselves and share real experience that equips students to begin coaching immediately.

We conduct our training in three modules:

Module 1: NLP Communication and Coaching Essentials

This three-day module grounds participants in the communication skills required to coach and includes:

• Definitions of Coaching, Mentoring, Counselling and Training.
• The NLP Communication Model.
• Creating rapport with your client.
• Reading non-verbal language.
• Precision questions for creating awareness for the client .
• Setting clear objectives and outcomes.
• Self awareness of mind-body emotional state.
• Inducing states of trust and confidence in the client.
• Creating a Well-Formed Outcome

Module 2: Coaching for Change

This three-day module give participant the tools and understanding to facilitate change in thier clients and includes:

• Review of module 1.
• Higher frames of mind that govern behaviour.
• Accelerated learning techniques.
• Creating boundaries .
• Developing empowerment.
• Unconditional self-esteem.
• Tracking values and behavioural drivers.
• Overcoming limiting belief systems and installing possibilities.
• Unleashing creativity.
• Creating congruence and intentionality.
• Closing the gap between idea and action.
• Blowing out excuses.
• Group project to be completed by module 3.
  

Module 3 - Organisational and Executive Coach Certification

Organisational and Executive Coach Certification is an outstanding programme for professionals who work within an organisation to enhance human performance and achieve business outcomes.

This five-day module focuses on coaching inside an organisation with a specific emphasis on organisational structure, culture, management and leadership; it includes:

• Review of modules 1 & 2.
• The ICF competencies and ethics
• Understanding individual and organisational change.
• How to faciltate lasting change.
• Utilise a systematic approach to coaching individuals and groups.
• Facilitate and lead group dynamics
• Develop benchmarks and competencies for performance.
• Benchmark your own coaching skills.
• Become masterful at giving and receiving feedback.
• Be confident to know what to do when, where and with whom.
• Plan for creating a coaching culture with your organisation.
• Presentation of group project.

Coach Training

Modules 1 and 2 are run as public or in-house programs; module 3 is currently only run as an in-house program. Modules 1 and 2 are certified under the Interanational Society of Neuro-Semantics and the Meta-Coach Foundation; all modules can be used for ICF portfolio track credentialling.
