A Leadership Methodology

Leadership is defined as a process by which a person influences others to accomplish an objective and directs the organisation in a way that makes it more cohesive and coherent.

Leadership competencies are essential to today's manager and whilst some managers have a natural leadership ability, every manager can greatly benefit by developiing their leadership skills.

Leadership Modules

Self Leadership

Knowing who you are, what you can do and where you are going, coupled with the ability to manage your communication and emotions on the way to getting there. This competency is about personal mastery and creates a strong attitudinal and skill foundation for effective management and leadership.

 

People Leadership

Getting the best from people by connecting their intrinsic motivators with the goals and vision of the organisation. Communication is at the heart of a learning organisation and this module develops the ability to communicate even in the presence of conflict and diversity. Finally people managers learn to coach and mentor for maximum performance.

 

Team Leadership

Bringing together individuals of different styles and competencies to work together towards a common goal. This competency emphasises bringing people together and empowering them execute the company’s vision, mission and objectives

 

Customer/Client
Leadership

This competency emphasises serving and influencing both internal and external clients. The leader must know how to identify driving forces and utilises these forces to sell, negotiate and/or present ideas with different audiences.

 

Strategic Leadership

Taking a larger perspective, systems thinking, planning and making decisions that place the company in the best position to fulfil its mission. Business intelligence (savvy) means recognising the systems that are crucial to the success or failure of the business in different markets.

 

Self Leadership International’s training and consulting programs are based on a competency framework. The framework is cognitive behavioural in that each aspect of leadership is examined in terms of the frames of mind and behaviours required to lead a successful organisation. Behaviours are benchmarked on a 1-5 scale allowing the leader to receive feedback and a development map in each area.

The framework allows flexibility to dovetail with an organisation’s existing competency framework and allows us to design programmes to address specific competencies and measure the success against pre-defined or custom-made benchmarks.

Before designing the leadership training it is essential to first evaluate the existing leadership competencies, this can be done using a 360 Assessment tool specifically created to measure leadership competencies, or we can analyse and utilise your existing 360 results and or employee or organisational surveys.

The leadership training, often in combination with executive coaching can then address competency gaps.
