Powerful Presentations
by Andrew Bryant
Director of Self Leadership International
Last week I presented at the Singapore HR Summit on ‘Learning Pitfalls and How to avoid them’. A large part of my message was on engagement and I was gratified to receive great feedback from the session. In fact several companies approached me immediately after the presentation to book me for in-house trainings and to speak at their upcoming conferences.
What the above example confirms is that if you can speak effectively in front of an audience you will increase your influence and your income. Being able to present powerfully can make or break your career.
The good news is that even the most tongue-tied can learn to engage an audience and get their message across. At Self Leadership International we can help you upgrade your skills with either one-to-one coaching or by attending a training.
A CEO of a major company recently engaged me to assist him to get his message across at a series of presentations around the AsiaPac region. Previous feedback from attendeess was that they perceived him as aloof, uninspiring and overtechnical. When I met with him, I discovered that he was far from aloof, that he was very caring and concerned that his employees understood the decision being made that affected their lives.
Within three-hours, the previously ‘stiff’ CEO was able to relax and understand that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. By learning to change the way he looked out at the audience and to tell engaging stories from the heart rather than deliver data from spreadsheets he got the message across and his people felt that he meant what he said.
In addition to myself we have two excellent presentation skills trainers that your company can engage or you can attend one of their public workshops.
